The Union has been involved and is leading a Campaign for the abolition of the Fees since December 2013

We wrote to Councillors and T.D.s throughout the Country and were succesful in having a motion passed at some council meetings “to call on the Ministers for Finance, Education and Social Welfare to immediately review this fee with a view to removing it as a barrier to training. To support the development of a skilled technical workforce in the County and for the fees to be waived.”

Paul Gorey Master of Education and teacher/Lecturer at IT made representations also to the Minister. December 2013, copy also attached. He also wrote a letter to the Irish Times which was published (click to open).
